Chocolate Lush

This recipe came from my wife's family, specifically from her Aunt Elaine. The original recipe is called "Lemon Lush" and uses lemon instead of chocolate pudding, but that recipe is not a favorite of mine. The chocolate version is delightful.

Ingredients:

1 cup flour
1 stick of butter
½cup chopped nuts
11 oz. cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 16-oz. conatiner of whippped topping
2 small packages of instant chocolate pudding
3 cups milk

Instructions:

For the crust, mix flour, butter and walnuts. Place in 9x13 pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Place on rack to cool.

For the filling, mix chocolate pudding with milk until it starts to firm up a little. Set aside. Mix cream cheese, sugar and half of the whipped topping. Set aside. When crust is cold, spread cream cheese mixture over crust, then spread pudding on cheese. Spread the remaining whipped topping on top of the whole thing. Refrigerate at least four hours, overnight is best. Cut into squares and serve cold.
