I have absolutely no clue what this keychain does. Or rather, once did. Its batteries are either exhausted or missing. It was rather difficult to photograph, as well. But all the grief was totally worth it, because...

My amazing, talented co-worker Jackie Urlahs* gave me this keychain. In fact, upon my return from vacation after Labor Day, I found that she had given me a box containing twenty keychains. Huzzah to the queen.

*I was in no way compelled to say that about Jackie, folks. It's complete, 100% hands-down pure unadulterated beeswax truth.

UPDATE: Jackie informed me that what this keychain used to do was record loud sounds (like a clap, shout or whistle) and play them back, so that if you lost your keys, you could stalk around your house clapping like an idiot until the keychain picked up the sound and played it back, enabling you to locate said lost keys.
